Often used for life studies, charcoal is a very traditional art material, but encasing in wood to make a pencil gives Derwent Charcoal a more contemporary feel.

Smudge and blend easily with a paper stump or finger, or manipulate with a wet brush, due to the naturally soluble formulation.
